One of our favorite 3D-modelers, SpideyGTA101, has done it again, Dalmatian fans! A new pack of 101 Dalmatian Street GMOD models have been introduced to the community recently, and we couldn't be more excited to try them out! Let us introduce you to Pack 4 of the 101DS Ragdoll Models for Garry's Mod!!
The latest pack features five new characters to expand the growing ragdoll pack! And among them is of course the last member of the Dalmatian family!! In this pack we've got:
Dorothy Dalmatian
Fergus Fox
Clarissa Corgi
Hansel Husky
Summer Collie
Each of these models also have their share of unique skins as well that can be accessed through the bodygroup toolgun, especially for Fergus!
The new pack has already been released via a patch update for the 101DS pack in Coolbeanslol101's Steam Account, so it should already be yours when you have already susbcribed to the addon! After trying our paws out on the new models, we have some honest thoughts and creative opinions for the latest pack!
And this is coming from a creative criticism perspective, so there are some things that are worth pointing out for Dalmatian fans when they try the models. Let's begin, shall we?
First off, let's just say that we had a real blast trying out these models. It's undoubtedly opened more variety options for us to make more creative screenshots to share for the 101DS community and Gmod users! That, and along with such creative skins, especially for Fergus.
The fact that SpideyGTA added in a cowboy hat to Fergus' skin-alts in a nod to the 101DS toy merch really caught our eyes, and we're proud of Spidey (And Dan of course) for his knowledge for the creative merchandise that the show had recieved!
There are some limits that we wanted to address to SpideyGTA, and one example is that some facepose features lack pose-able angles for the characters' ears, especially Clarissa and Fergus. It can only let you twist their ears in certain angles, but doesn't let you fold them down to display irritation, sadness, or annoyance. And the tails lack other pose-able sliders that allow you to straighting there tails out, or curl downwards.
And of course, the characters from the first two packs don't have pose-able headshapes like Pack 3 and 4 do.
As for the errors in modeling, Fergus' eyelids aren't black like in the show, and his set gold fangs are indeed visible, but just barley, unless you mess around with the facepose toolgun. (We'd honestly would like an extra option where you could alter Fergus' fangs to be bigger and more visible while adjusting the mouths)
We also struggled with Clarissa's mouth using facepose. When try lowering/raising sliders for Pucker or wide-mouth to stretch out her mouth, it does the opposite, and instead grows smaller and narrow. Again, we don't fault Spidey since he's learning to become a growing 3D modelist.
We should note that SpideyGTA went at it alone this time to work on the fourth pack by himself without the help from Coolbeans, working on the facial poses, the character models, and making sure the characters reflect closely to the show as much as possible.
Despite the flaws that the fourth pack might have, that didn't distract us from our enjoyment in playing around with these models, and we want to praise Spidey for his efforts and tackling on such an exciting pack all by himself!
And if you haven't caught up with Coolbeanslol101's Steam Account lately, the recent two packs for the Source Filmmaker versions of the 101 Dalmatian Street models are also on Steam for you to pick up if you have your SFM software available!
With all the new packs and features released so far, we're hopeful that these GMOD models will soon grow to be popular in the future, and we folks of The Puppy Daily are excited to see what other surprises Coolbeans and Spidey will bring to the table for 101 Dalmatian Street fans!
If you're a gmodder, but haven't tried the models yet, now's the time to grab them and add them to your collection of Garry's mod addons!
